Clear Up a Stubborn Clogged Drain with These DIY TipsDealing with a clogged drain can be more than frustrating, which is why you would probably do whatever it takes to clear it up. If you’re sick and tired of trying to live with a clogged drain somewhere in your house, we recommend trying one of the following remedies:

  • Boiling water—In some cases, all it takes to clear up a clogged drain is some boiling water. While you’re pouring the water down the drain, be careful so you don’t burn yourself.
  • Baking soda and vinegar—If hot water doesn’t get results, mix equal parts vinegar and baking soda and send the solution down the drain. Let the solution sit in your drain for a few minutes before turning on the water.
  • The plunger—While you might think the plunger is only for your toilet, think again. If you need to get rid of a clog in a sink or bathtub, make sure there’s some standing water in the basin before plunging away.

If these methods don’t do much good, it’s time to go after the clog manually with a snake or another tool that can bend through your pipes. However, if using a snake still doesn’t get results, resist the urge to pick up some drain cleaner at the store. These products often contain harmful chemicals that can corrode your pipes. Instead, let one of the professional plumbers on our team come and diagnose the issue and take care of it in no time.
