A clogged drain is something that happens to many of us, sometimes a few times per year. When you have a clogged drain, it often starts out slow and eventually the obstruction will grow to something that virtually stops water from passing. Whether you are tired of showering with an ever-growing puddle of water around your feet or want your drains to flow freely when washing your hands or brushing your teeth, a clogged drain isn’t something that you just have to deal with! There are a few DIY fixes that are effective options for you to try.
A great option for a clogged drain is to try something that you would have used to make a volcano with in grade school. That’s right — time to break out the baking soda and vinegar! Pour some baking soda down your drain (there’s no exact measurement, maybe about a half a cup to a cup) and then follow it with some white vinegar and boiling water. Allow the bubbles to foam up and rinse. Repeat until your drain is clear.
Another choice is to use a more physical method with your drains. A clogged drain responds well to things like a plunger (use one with a flat bottom for a good seal!) and also a drain snake. While these two things require you to get your hands a little dirtier, they often produce effective results.
